Or rather this is what he appeared to advocate since he continually shoots at the easy targets - the useless window dressing agencies of the GFA and their liberal nonsense.

This leads him to proposing that members of the public should have Tasers to defend themselves, which I suppose exposes his essentially right wing libertarian politics. (Why doesn't he advocate them having guns?)

The point is that there isn't a new power given to the police that they don't go on to abuse. That's one reason these shouldn't be given to them. As for dealing with crime and their victims, social problems can't be solved by regimes of individual punishment. It's nothing to do with being a soft liberal - it just doesn't work.

The failures of Sinn Fein will be well smothered over by the media who are already protecting big Ian. With such an apolitical population at present this is hardly necessary but their determination still to do so indicates their realisation and concern that the house is really made of cards.Hoopyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15358274060750165422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2092460524833585582.post-70699315406146850262008-01-16T00:20:00.000+00:002008-01-16T00:20:00.000+00:00Thanks for the blog. The friends of Sinn Fein, many on the left, either praise Sinn Fein for their radical position on the policing boards or else they say asinine things such as 'policing doesn't cause poverty'.

The only sanction Sinn Fein can apply is withdrawal from the poicing boards. They are not going to do that, so their only role is to rubberstamp police repression.

Thanks again, but watch out for the typos!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
